Memorias Migrantes (2016)

Interactive installation (Pariguayo)
Museo Gregorio Álvarez.

Memorias Migrantes is an interactive audiovisual installation. It articulates sound and visual field recordings with tactile interfaces built around found objects. It can be explored using by the public's hands, evoking sounds and images related to the history of the objects around which it is centered and the regions in which they were found. By generating an associative experience of manipulation of sound and visual sensations, Memorias Migrantes proposes an analogy with the process of creating collective memory, as a reconstruction of the past and the present by a social group. The materials used for the construction of each interface were identified and intervened from a biographical approach to the objects. This approach examines materialities beginning with their social and cultural history: what are the trajectories of the elements that compose them, where do the objects come from, who manufactured them, what were the different uses they received. In this sense, each object in Memorias Migrantes constitutes a metonymic representation of a territory and the installation, an exercise in interactive audiovisual cartography.
